In September 2024, Duke Energy started two projects in Morrisville, affecting noise, traffic, and sidewalk accessibility. The initiatives involve installing power lines from nearby substations to developing areas to strengthen the electric grid and increase capacity.

The Duke Energy project team is working on installing underground equipment along McCrimmon Parkway, from Town Hall Drive to Airport Boulevard. Construction occurs Monday through Friday during daylight hours. Initially expected to be completed by March 2025, the project has been delayed due to soil conditions, with a new completion date anticipated in mid-April.
