With the arrival of warmer weather, infrastructure projects in the town are moving forward. These projects include transportation bond-funded turn lane improvements on N.C. 55 and Main Street, as well as sidewalk construction along Avent Ferry Road.

A new right turn lane is being added on N.C. 55 southbound from Avent Ferry Road to Main Street. Additionally, a northbound right turn lane is under construction along Main Street from near Earp Street to Holly Springs Road. This will provide stacking room for traffic turning onto Holly Springs Road, allowing northbound traffic to continue moving smoothly. Drivers may experience occasional lane closures during off-peak hours.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is modernizing traffic signal cabinet equipment around Holly Springs as part of developing an intelligent traffic signal network. This upgrade aims to allow real-time monitoring for vehicle flow optimization. Through mid-June, drivers might notice workers installing new hardware, potentially causing temporary lane closures and signals operating in flash mode or powered off. Traffic will be directed accordingly, with some work occurring at night for safety and convenience.

Road construction continues on east Holly Springs Road with activities expected to conclude mid-year, including finishing the bridge over Middle Creek and building eastbound lanes. The next phase involves installing medians and a roundabout later this year.

Additional projects include constructing a sidewalk connection along Avent Ferry Road between the hospital and downtown, set to begin this summer. The replacement of sidewalk ramps in the downtown area to meet ADA requirements is also ongoing.
