North Carolina Courage goalkeeper Casey Murphy has been named to Emma Hayes’ 18-player United States Women’s National Team roster for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France. This marks the first Olympics for the 28-year-old, who has accumulated 19 international senior caps.

Murphy is one of two goalkeepers on the roster, joining Alyssa Naeher. She has recorded 15 clean sheets in her 19 international appearances and recently made three crucial saves in a 3-0 victory over South Korea. Murphy was part of the 2023 Women’s World Cup roster and served as the starting keeper for the U.S. U-20 World Cup team in 2016.

The U.S. Olympic Women’s Soccer Team will convene on July 8 in New Jersey to prepare for a match against Mexico on July 13 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. The game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on TNT, truTV, Telemundo, Universo, Max, and Peacock. The team will then play Costa Rica on July 16 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.

At the Paris Olympics, the U.S. will start Group B play on July 25 against Zambia at Stade de Nice in Nice. Subsequent matches include Germany on July 28 at Stade de Marseille and Australia on July 31 also in Marseille.

Murphy has played every minute of the current regular season for North Carolina Courage, starting all 14 fixtures with a save percentage of 71.4%. She recently became the club’s all-time leader in goalkeeper wins with her 30th victory against Chicago last Sunday.

Last season, Murphy became the youngest keeper in league history to achieve a milestone of 30 clean sheets in her NWSL career. Acquired by North Carolina ahead of the 2021 season from Seattle, she tied the league single-season record with 11 clean sheets that year.

Now in her sixth NWSL season, Murphy began her professional career with Montpellier in France where she earned French Division 1 Keeper of the Year honors before signing with Seattle in 2019 and later joining North Carolina Courage.

The North Carolina Courage are competing in their eighth season since joining the National Women’s Soccer League (USSF Division I) in 2017 after Steve Malik purchased and relocated Western New York Flash to Cary, North Carolina. The team plays its home games at WakeMed Soccer Park and holds seven league trophies including three NWSL Shields (2017-2019), two NWSL Championships (2018-2019), and two UKG NWSL Challenge Cups (2022-2023). They also won the ICC Championship in 2018.
