Cary, NC -- Cary Town Hall and most staffed facilities will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24 for Thanksgiving and resume normal operations Monday, November 27. While curbside collection will operate as scheduled Monday through Wednesday, Thursday’s collection will move to Friday, November 24. GoCary will not operate fixed route or door-to-door services on Thanksgiving Day.

Getting outdoors over the holiday weekend? Cary Tennis Park’s outdoor courts remain open from 8 a.m.-11 p.m. daily. Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve is also open daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. A full map of Cary’s greenways and parks can be found at carync.gov/greenways. Additionally, the Chinese Lantern Festival returns to Koka Booth Amphitheatre through January 14, 2024. Tickets and information are available at boothamphitheatre.com.

If you’re visiting downtown Cary Thanksgiving weekend, be aware of the Downtown Urban Open Disc Golf Tournament taking place on Cary Town Hall Campus. North Academy Street will be closed from Ambassador Loop to Wilkinson Avenue for the duration of the event.

When cooking over the holiday, remember to properly dispose of cooking fats, oils, and grease via the residential waste cooking oil curbside recycling program. Simply place cooled, used cooking oil and grease in a plastic screw-top food container. Once at least a half-gallon (approximately one 2-liter soda bottle) is collected, label the container “Used Cooking Oil” and log your request for curbside collection at carync.gov/311.
