Cary, NC – Most Cary staffed facilities, including Town Hall, will be closed on Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day. Community centers, the Cary Arts Center, Page-Walker Arts and History Center, and Senior Center will be closed May 27-29. The Bond Park Boathouse will remain open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily May 27-29. The Cary Tennis Park clubhouse will be closed on Memorial Day, but courts will be open during normal posted hours.

GoCary will operate on a Sunday-level fixed-route service on Memorial Day, with Tier I-only Door-to-Door service.

Curbside garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection moves one day later for the week of May 28-June 2, and the Citizen’s Convenience Center will be closed on May 29. Citizens can view or print their collection schedule using Cary Collects.

Cary citizens firing up the grill or deep fryer at home this weekend are reminded to do so safely by taking advantage of the residential waste cooking oil curbside recycling program. Simply place up to a half-gallon of cooled, used cooking oil and grease in a plastic screw-top food container, label the container “Used Cooking Oil,” and call 311 or visit services.carync.gov to schedule a free curbside pickup.

As a reminder, the community is invited to unite for a ceremony at Veterans Freedom Park on May 29 at 2:30 p.m. to honor those that have fallen while serving in the armed forces. Emceed by District C Council member Jack Smith, the event will feature music from the Cary Town Band, special guest speakers, and the dedication of the new Blue Star Memorial at Veterans Freedom Park.

A special Field of Flags will be placed at Veterans Freedom Memorial Park all week long in honor of those that have bravely served in the armed forces.
