The Town of Holly Springs has inaugurated a new fire station in the northwest area to address the growing needs of the community. The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Sean Mayefskie, Town Council Members, state and Wake County officials, business leaders, students, and local residents.

Mayor Mayefskie emphasized the importance of this addition to public safety infrastructure: "Holly Springs has one of the top-rated fire departments in the country and this state-of-the-art fire station is going to make our level of service even higher in our community." He added that the Town Council is committed to ensuring residents can rely on their services when needed.

Fire Station 3, located at 114 Cinder Station Road, is positioned strategically amid significant residential and commercial development. The area includes Carolina Springs with 1,700 homes and plans for 1,200 more in CaMP Helix. Major businesses like FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies, CSL Seqirus, and Amgen are also nearby. Woods Creek Elementary School is close as well.

The facility features modern decontamination technology to enhance safety by keeping contaminants out of living quarters. It can house up to 16 firefighters and provides space for Holly Springs Police.

Town Manager Randy Harrington expressed gratitude towards FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies for allowing a temporary station during construction: “While our new fire station was being constructed, the level of service our residents receive never wavered thanks to our invaluable partnership with FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies.”

Fire Chief LeRoy Smith shared his vision for the new station: “My vision for this station is simple: we will not just respond to emergencies; we will be neighbors, friends, and partners to the families and businesses that surround us.”

The event also honored original volunteer firefighters from Holly Springs’ early days. Chief Smith acknowledged their contributions and noted that Ladder 14 carries their legacy.

A traditional hose uncoupling marked the official opening of Fire Station 3. The community is invited to visit on March 8 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for tours and interactions with firefighters.
