Happy 20th Anniversary to the Wake County section of the American Tobacco Trail! Throughout 2023, park staff are sharing fun, historical photos of the trail on the 20th of each month. #ATT20
Today, we highlighted the many ways people explore the ATT over on the park’s Facebook page.
Did you know the trail was designed with equestrians in mind? The path is hoof-friendly, composed of crushed granite screenings, and offers mounting blocks and benches to help riders remount their horses.
It's also the perfect place to enjoy a walk, run or bike ride! Wake County's section offers a quiet and rural setting traversing 6.5 miles from the community of New Hill to the Chatham County line.
The park offers a variety of staff- or volunteer-led public learning opportunities on topics of interest in environmental education, natural resources, cultural history and recreational activities for families and people of all ages. Check out our online calendar to see what’s coming up.
If geocaching or birdwatching is more your speed, you're also in luck! Both of these are fun, different ways to experience the trail. You can learn more about these opportunities on our website at wake.gov/parks/ATT.
