SAU Cycling Opens Season with Two Weekend Races

The Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) Cycling Team opened its Fall 2022 season with a pair of events in Raleigh over the weekend.  Both races were part of the Cross Central cyclocross series. The first race was held at Dorthea Dix Park on Saturday, September 10th. SAU Ashley Weekes (Junior) and Jalen Little (Junior) both earned podiums in their respective categories.

SAU hosted the rainy Sunday races. Nearly 150 riders competed in multiple heats and divisions on a racecourse that rolled over muddy trails on the north and east sides of campus and then around the football stadium. Kensington Brown (Junior), Jalen Little (Junior), Noah Wheeler (EC), Bella Calvarenga (Freshman), and Coach Finote Weldermariam all won podium spots in their divisions. The team will next compete in Chapel Hill on September 25th in another Cross Central event. For more information, visit www.SAUclubsports.com/cycling.
