The North Carolina Commerce Department said in April that Bandwidth Inc. plans to expand operations in Raleigh, which will add 1,165 new jobs over eight years.
According to a department press release, Bandwidth’s plans will include more than $103 million in capital investment locally.
“Though the current backdrop is highly challenging for everyone, the Commerce Department is proud to continue carrying out its mission – and that includes helping companies execute strategic growth plans that involve North Carolina,” Commerce Secretary Anthony Copeland said in the news release.
The North Carolina Economic Investment Committee approved a $32 million Job Development Investment Grant to be disbursed over 12 years to assist Bandwidth with its expansion.
Grant payments to Bandwidth are dependent on verification of incremental targets of job creation and investment targets, according to the release.
“Even though this is a challenging time for the residents of Wake County, the announcement from Bandwidth signals confidence and support of our community,” said Greg Ford, Chairman of the Wake County Board of Commissioners.
