North Carolina is successfully implementing social distancing rules especially when it comes to grocery and hardware stores, according to a Spectrum Local News report.
Grocery store owners continue to implement plans to ensure social distancing while facing a set of new orders Gov. Roy Cooper issued earlier in April to standardize regulations.
Some stores, like Food Lion, use identifiers at checkout lines to show where to stand to maintain social distancing guidelines, the media outlet reported. Spectrum also reported that Trader Joe's provides hand sanitizer before they enter the store.
“I think it's going to be a very hard call for the governor to make, but I think it's the correct one," Craig Wilkins, owner of The Butcher’s Market, told the news outlet.
Wilkins said as a result of the social distancing rules, customer interaction is now limited to call-ahead orders for curbside pickup, the outlet reported. It has been a big change for a shop and industry that thrives on one-on-one interactions as workers guide customers through selecting high-quality meats.
