WakeMed Soccer Park | North Carolina Courage
The North Carolina Courage achieved a new home opener attendance record with 8,158 spectators during their match against the Seattle Reign at First Horizon Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park. Despite the high turnout, the Courage fell to Seattle with a final score of 2-1.
This attendance is notable as it ranks sixth in the club's history and is the highest recorded before September. The game saw Aline Gomes score for the Courage in the 59th minute after a strong effort by Denise O’Sullivan. However, Seattle had already established a lead with goals from Jess Fishlock in the 35th minute and Jordyn Bugg in the 56th minute.
Post-match, Jessica McDonald was inducted into the Courage's Ring of Honor alongside Sam Mewis, who was inducted in 2024. This event also marked NC Courage Head Coach Sean Nahas' 100th match leading the team across all competitions.
Looking ahead, the Courage will face off against Portland Thorns on March 29 as part of Week 3 of the NWSL regular season. The match will take place at 10 p.m. ET and will be available for viewing on ION.
