Holly Springs Parks & Recreation has introduced new activities and a dedicated e-newsletter for individuals aged 55 and above. This initiative follows growing interest from the community in expanding options for seniors. Mayor Sean Mayefskie previously hosted a Community Chat to gather input from seniors on preferred programs, complemented by feedback collected through focus groups and an online survey.

"The feedback we gathered through various channels and conversations was truly instrumental in shaping expanded offerings of programs and activities geared specifically for this age group," stated Holly Springs Parks & Recreation Director LeeAnn Plumer.

The department has launched the Senior Spotlight, a monthly e-newsletter that provides information about regular programs as well as highlights unique activities planned for the coming months. Seniors can subscribe to the newsletter by visiting hollyspringsnc.gov/seniors.

The Senior Spotlight covers various offerings tailored to seniors, including weekly clubs such as Wii bowling, bridge, and mah-jongg; workshops on topics like technology and nutrition; senior fitness classes; social gatherings; volunteer opportunities; and group outings to regional destinations. Additionally, it provides updates on town festivals, events, and performances.

Plumer also mentioned that senior needs were considered during the design of a future multigenerational recreation center at Eagles Landing Park.
