The North Carolina Courage secured a 1-1 draw against Racing Louisville FC on a rainy Saturday night at Lynn Family Stadium. The match saw the Courage make a strong comeback in the second half after trailing by one goal.
Racing Louisville opened the scoring early, with Emma Sears finding the net from a corner kick assisted by Arin Wright. Despite several attempts, including two key saves by Casey Murphy, the Courage went into halftime without a goal.
In the second half, North Carolina increased their pressure and were rewarded when Riley Jackson scored in the 69th minute to level the game. Although they sought a winning goal, outshooting Louisville 8-3 in this period, they could not convert their opportunities.
Jaedyn Shaw made her debut for North Carolina during this match and marked her 50th NWSL regular season appearance. Hannah Betfort and Shinomi Koyama also debuted as substitutes. The game had been delayed due to weather concerns.
Looking ahead, North Carolina will face Seattle Reign FC at First Horizon Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park next Saturday. This home opener will also celebrate Jessica McDonald's induction into the club’s Ring of Honor.
