The February international window brought significant moments for North Carolina Courage players representing their national teams.
Manaka Matsukubo celebrated Japan's victory in the SheBelieves Cup with a 2-1 win over the United States, marking Japan's first title in the competition's history. Matsukubo made her senior national team debut during this tournament, playing as a substitute in all three matches and spending most of her time on the field against the U.S., where she faced off against fellow Courage player Jaedyn Shaw.
Shaw played for the United States in the SheBelieves Cup, contributing significantly to their victory over Australia. Her assist to Lynn Biyendolo set up the opening goal just seconds into the match. Shaw excelled with eight key passes and three big chances created, earning praise from USWNT Head Coach Emma Hayes. "I thought Jaedyn played really well... Her ability to link with the forwards really showed," Hayes commented post-match. Hayes also highlighted Shaw’s versatility across various attacking positions, expressing confidence in her development.
Denise O’Sullivan shone for Ireland in their UEFA Women’s Nations League opener against Türkiye, securing a 1-0 win. Courage Head Coach Sean Nahas commended O’Sullivan's consistent high-level performance: “True pro in every sense of the word.” O’Sullivan was named Sky Ireland Player of the Match after an impactful 90-minute performance but could not prevent a subsequent 4-0 loss to Slovenia despite Ireland outshooting their opponents.
Feli Rauch achieved her 49th and 50th caps for Germany during this window, playing as a substitute against the Netherlands and completing full minutes in a 4-1 victory over Austria.
Aline Gomes participated in Brazil's training camp ahead of upcoming friendlies and Copa América Femenina.
With international duties concluded, these players will return to Cary to prepare for North Carolina Courage’s upcoming NWSL season opener against Racing Louisville on March 15, followed by hosting Seattle Reign at WakeMed Soccer Park on March 22.
