The North Carolina Courage has completed a transaction with the Kansas City Current, acquiring $50,000 in intra-league transfer funds in exchange for forward Haley Hopkins.

Haley Hopkins was originally selected by the Courage as the 11th overall pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft from the University of Virginia. During her tenure with the team, she made 36 regular season appearances, scoring four goals and providing two assists over 1,896 minutes. Additionally, she contributed three goals and three assists in ten cup competition appearances. Her efforts were instrumental in helping the Courage secure victory in the 2023 NWSL Challenge Cup and reach the semifinals of the 2024 NWSLxLiga MX Femenil Summer Cup.

Courage Head Coach Sean Nahas expressed gratitude for Hopkins' contributions: “We cannot thank Haley enough for her time, energy and commitment to her teammates, staff, and club. In her two years here, she helped lay the foundation for the forward direction we are going. We always talk about leaving a mark, and Haley did just that. We wish her all the best and much success on this new journey in Kansas City.”

With this trade concluded, North Carolina Courage now have a total of 34 players attending their preseason camp. Of these players, 28 are under contract while 27 remain active.
