My Tree, Our Tree Lottery

Exciting news about My Tree, Our Tree, our community’s program to increase our urban canopy! The lottery is now open! You may enter now through March 14 at 5 p.m. for your chance to claim a tree and help us increase Cary’s canopy. All Cary residents can enter the lottery. Only one entry per address is permitted — multiple entries for the same address will be removed. For information, tree descriptions, and the link to enter, go to carync.gov/mytreeourtree.

White Oak Creek Greenway Maintenance — Jenks Carpenter Road

Some drainage and repair work to the greenway is required just west of Jenks Carpenter Road. Work is scheduled to start the week of February 26 and take approximately two weeks to complete. Work will require closures due to the use of heavy equipment. Trails should be able to be reopened for weekends. All work is weather-dependent. Learn more.

Godbold Dog Park Closed on Monday, February 26

The Godbold dog park will be closed to allow for partial replacement of mulch. The park will be closed most of the day and will reopen after 5 p.m. Should the work be extended later or postponed, we will send another notice. Look for the A-frame sign to be posted outside the front gate. In the meantime, please enjoy the dog park at Jack Smith Park, located at 9725 Penny Road.

Black History & African American Appreciation Month 

Come celebrate Black History & African American Appreciation Month in Cary throughout February. Events and programs will be hosted at various venues around town that will lead you on a journey of "Acknowledging the Past while STREAMing into the Future (STREAM is an acronym for science, technology, research, education, arts, and music)." We’re hosting concerts, symposiums, art exhibitions, and food tastings. For a full list of programs, visit carync.gov/bhm.

Cary Downtown Farmers Market

Downtown Cary Park, 9 a.m.

Join the Cary Downtown Farmers Market for the winter market at its new permanent location on Park Street next to Downtown Cary Park! Each Saturday, you will find a wonderful lineup of vendors offering all locally-made and locally-grown items. Shop for freshly-harvested produce, handmade local food, and artisan-made goods. Stop by the info booth to learn about their matching program for SNAP/EBT. Children can also get their very own Farmers Market Passport and participate in the Eat-A-Rainbow program, which encourages children to eat healthy, nutritious foods.
