Saturday Lane Closures on Holly Springs Road

Saturday lane closures continue on Holly Springs Road between Arthur Pierce Road and Winding Oak Way this month while crews work to rehabilitate a sewer line in the area. The traffic shift is planned to be in place on Saturdays only from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and flaggers will be in place to direct traffic during these times. A normal traffic pattern can be expected Sunday through Friday.

The Cary is proud to be a partner organization with CatVideoFest. CatVideoFest is a compilation reel of the latest and best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and classic internet powerhouses. ABC11 Presents Smooth Nights

Cary Downtown Farmers Market

200 E. Chatham Street, Downtown Cary, 8 a.m. to noon

Join the Cary Downtown Farmers Market at its temporary location at the parking lot of The Perfect Piece each Saturday. Find a wonderful lineup of vendors offering all locally made and locally grown items. Shop for freshly harvested produce, humanely raised meat, and artisan-made goods. Stop by the info booth to learn about their matching program for SNAP/EBT. Children can also get their very own Farmers Market Passport and participate in the Eat-A-Rainbow program, which encourages children to eat healthy, nutritious foods. Parking for the new location can be found at the public parking lot behind the Methodist Church (off Walker St. and Waldo St.). Russell Walker has started a new hip-hop and rap label called Krush Groove, which features a stellar list of acts that includes Kurtis Blow and Run-D.M.C. However, Walker doesn't have sufficient money to keep up the label, especially after Run-D.M.C. scores a big single. Tickets and information.

Film: Scratch (NR)

Scratch explores the world of the hip-hop DJ: from the birth of hip-hop, when pioneering DJ’s began extending breaks on their party records (which helped inspire break dancing and rap), to the invention of scratching and “beat-juggling” vinyl, to its more recent explosion as a musical movement called “turntablism.” It’s a story of underdogs and virtuosos who have radically changed the way we hear and create music.
