Cary, NC Some Cary services and operations will be affected by the Independence Day holiday on Tuesday, July 4. Cary Town Hall and most staffed facilities, including community and arts centers, 311 and the Citizen’s Convenience Center, will be closed. GoCary fixed routes and Tier I Door-to-Door will run its Sunday schedule on July 4. Citizens looking to spend time outdoors on July 4 can visit the Bond Park Boathouse from 7 a.m.-6 p.m., Cary Tennis Park outdoor courts from 8 a.m.-11 p.m., Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve from 9 a.m.-sunset, or Cary Action Sports from noon-8 p.m.

Curbside collections from July 4-6 will move one day forward; July 3 collection is not impacted. The modified schedule can be found at carync.gov/collects or in the Cary Collects app, available in the Apple and Android app stores.

Citizens using their grills or deep fryers this holiday are reminded to properly dispose of any cooking fats, oils, and grease by taking advantage of Cary’s residential waste cooking oil curbside recycling program. Simply place cooled, used cooking oil and grease in a plastic screw-top food container. Once at least a half-gallon (approximately one, two-liter soda bottle) is collected, properly label the container “Used Cooking Oil,” and visit carync.gov/311 to schedule a free curbside pickup.

Finally, all are invited to an Independence Day celebration on July 4 at Koka Booth Amphitheatre, including patriotic performances from the Cary Town Band and NC Symphony, followed by a fireworks finale over Symphony Lake. General admission and parking onsite is free to the public. Visit the Booth Amphitheatre website for tickets and traffic information, and text JULY4 to 51597 for updates on the day of the event.
