Super Bowl Sunday is almost here! Planning a few snacks, potluck, buffet or food delivery for the big game? Keep these food safety rules in your game-day playbook:
Clean. Avoid an illegal use of hands penalty. Wash your hands with soap and warm water before and after preparing, handling, and eating food.
Cook. Avoid a personal fowl by cooking poultry, meat, and seafood to safe internal temperatures. Use chaffing dishes, crock pots and warming trays to keep foods at 140° F or warmer.
Chill. Keep cold foods cold. Put food dishes in larger bowls of ice. For purchased party trays, remove the lid, and fill it with ice. Put the tray on top.
Separate. Steer clear of illegal contact penalties. Keep raw meat, poultry, seafood, eggs and flour separate from other foods.
Don’t forget to watch the clock! Put perishables, prepared foods and leftovers in the refrigerator or freezer within two hours of purchase or use.
