We're kicking off a yearlong celebration of the American Tobacco Trail's 20th Anniversary! Follow along as we take a trip down memory lane with some fun photos spanning the past two decades.
If you've visited the trail, you may recognize the Beaver Creek Bridge, which is located near the trail's 21.5-mile marker. Along this section of trail, there's a marsh area with an array of plant life among the obvious snags (standing dead trees) due to the presence of beavers. Beavers are nature’s engineers and play an essential role in our forests.
Beaver dams naturally create ponds, lakes, wetlands and meadows that, in turn, increase biodiversity and improve the overall environment. This wetland habitat provides a home to beavers, seasonal waterfowl, woodpeckers and more.
