Orville Wright, who along with his brother Wilbur made North Carolina “First in Flight” in 1903, was born on August 19, 1871. His legacy lives on forever thanks to Franklin D. Roosevelt who proclaimed his birthday as National Aviation Day.
Come out to enjoy some special activities on August 19 only. At the N.C. Transportation Museum, we have an exact replica of the original Wright Flyer. You can see it and all our other aviation exhibits this week. Come see us 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, and Sunday 12 – 5 p.m.
