City of Durham COVID-19 Guidelines & Service Updates

City of Durham recently issued the following announcement.

Durham City & County to End Mask Mandate Effective March 7; City Employees will Continue to Wear Masks through March 21

The decision is based on current COVID-19 data and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance. Officials will continue to monitor the critical metrics in the coming weeks. View the full press release.

City employees will continue to wear face coverings inside City facilities through March 21.

According to federal and CDC guidelines, masks are still required in healthcare facilities and on all public transportation.

Community members are encouraged to get vaccinated. Vaccines are free and widely available in Durham and across the state.

With the ongoing risks of COVID-19, community members are encouraged to access City services online.

In-Person Safety Guidelines:

Through March 7, all visitors are required to wear face coverings inside City facilities for their protection and the protection of others. City employees will continue to wear masks through March 21.

Signs will be placed at the entrance to City facilities and disposable face coverings and hand sanitizer will be available.

Waste Disposal Center

Curbside trash, recycling, and yard waste services are operating as normal

Bulky item pickup requests should be placed through Durham One Call

Waste Disposal and Recycling Center and Household Hazardous Waste Center are open

Regular billing has resumed; payment plans and hardship funds are available

Customers are encouraged to pay water bills online, by phone (919-560-1200), by mail (P.O. Box 30041, Durham, N.C. 27702-3041), or by using secure drop boxes at City Hall

In person, cash payments accepted at City Hall Mon-Fri, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In person, cash payments are also accepted at more than 40 Western Union partners across Durham

Customers can also sign up for e-billing and auto draft. Look for the prompts when you pay your water bill online.

The Development Services Center (DSC) lobby at City Hall is open Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Many on-street metered downtown parking spaces remain converted to curbside delivery zones
