Most City of Durham Offices Closed for Labor Day

City of Durham issued the following announcement on September 6.

City Council Meeting Rescheduled for Tuesday, September 7

The virtual City Council meeting is re-scheduled for Tuesday, September 7 beginning at 7 p.m.

This regular business meeting will be livestreamed on City’s website and on the City's YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter pages as well as on Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV through the free Boxcast app.

The meeting will also be televised live on Durham Television Network (Spectrum channel 8, Google Fiber channel 8, Frontier channel 70, and AT&T U-verse channel 99).

Garbage, Recycling, Yard Waste & Bulky Item Collection

The Solid Waste Management Department will be closed on September 6.

All curbside collections for garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulky items will be delayed by one business day.

The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and the Household Hazardous Waste Center will also be closed on September 6.

Parks and Recreation

Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR) will close its administrative office and all facilities on September 6.

City Lakes will be open under their normal schedules from Friday, September 3 through Monday, September 6.

Hillside Pool and Sprayground will be open on Saturday, September 4 and Monday, September 6 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Parking

The Park Durham Customer Service Center will be closed on September 6.

On City-designated holidays, including Labor Day, downtown parking is free in on-street parking spaces, City-owned parking garages, and City-owned surface parking lots.

Durham One Call Service Requests

Durham One Call will also be closed on September 6.

Residents may submit a service request using the free Durham One Call smartphone app available in the Apple and Google Play stores, complete and submit an online service request, or leave a message at (919) 560-1200.

Durham One Call will forward all requests for City services to the appropriate department on the next business day.

Water and Sewer Emergencies

Water main break and sewer overflow calls for service placed after-hours, weekends or on City-recognized holidays should be directed to the department’s after-hours emergency phone number at (919) 560-4344, which will dispatch on-call crews.
