Town of Cary issued the following announcement on August 13.
Temporary closure of S. Walker St. is required to expedite stormwater improvements, gas line relocation, and minor sewer repair in the area.
The work will also accommodate utility tie ins for the Downtown Park.
The closure is expected to run from Monday, August 16 to December 2021.
CARY, NC - As part of a continuing effort to improve the quality of life for residents and to make Downtown Cary a destination for Town residents and visitors alike, the Town of Cary will be closing a stretch of S. Walker St. to allow for several improvements in the area. In addition to facilitating utility tie-ins for the Downtown Park Project, the improvements include:
Replacement of approximately 300 LF of varying size storm drainage pipe with a new 36” RCP to provide proper size of drainage pipe for the areas upstream of S. Walker Street including the Downtown Park, parts of Academy Street, and the area north of E. Park Street.
Relocation of a Dominion Energy gas line.
Minor sewer repairs and improvements near the intersection of Fairview Road.
Clancy & Theys Construction and Balfour Beatty Construction, in conjunction with the Town of Cary, are preparing to start work on this project on Monday, August 16, and the construction will impact our residents and business owners until the work is completed in December of 2021.
