The Holly Springs Town Council is inviting residents to apply for positions on the Planning Board and the Board of Adjustment. Applications will be accepted until December 1.
There are three available positions for in-town members on the Planning Board, which is a nine-member advisory group appointed by the Town Council. Eight members must live within the town limits, while one member represents the extraterritorial jurisdiction. The Planning Board reviews proposals related to rezoning, development requests, and changes to zoning regulations and the comprehensive plan. It does not have decision-making authority but offers recommendations to the Town Council.
For the Board of Adjustment, there are openings for one in-town member, one in-town alternate member, and one extraterritorial jurisdiction alternate member. This eight-member board hears public cases regarding variances from zoning rules, appeals against decisions made by town staff on zoning matters, and appeals concerning determinations from the Environmental Appeal Committee.
“Interested in helping guide future development in Holly Springs? The Holly Springs Town Council is seeking applicants for openings on the Board of Adjustment and the Planning Board. Applications will be accepted through Dec. 1,” according to a statement from town officials.
Both boards play roles in advising or making decisions related to land use and zoning within Holly Springs.
