The Town of Holly Springs announced on May 5 that it is celebrating National Small Business Week from May 3 to May 9, recognizing the important role small businesses play in the community and local economy.

Small businesses are highlighted as essential contributors to job creation, innovation, and the unique character of Holly Springs. Economic Development Director Irena Krstanovic said, “Small businesses are the backbone of Holly Springs, driving job creation, innovation, and the Town’s unique character.”

In support of these enterprises, Holly Springs Economic Development offers Downtown Investment Grants to help with infrastructure and tenant construction costs for qualifying projects. The Downtown Sip & Stroll Social District aims to increase community engagement while supporting local business revenue. Staff in the Economic Development Department also advocate for small businesses within local government by helping develop policies that promote sustainable growth.

For every $100 spent at a Holly Springs business, an estimated $68 remains in the local economy by supporting jobs and allowing reinvestment into employees and community. Mayor Mike Kondratick proclaimed May 3 to May 9 as Small Business Week in Holly Springs and encouraged residents to recognize entrepreneurs and storefronts contributing to the town’s success.

The Town of Holly Springs funds its operations through a balanced annual budget that includes tax rates, water fees, and expenditures for municipal projects, according to the official website. The town employs a council-manager structure with six elected members including a mayor who set policies for community services according to its official website.

National Small Business Week is part of a tradition held by the U.S. Small Business Administration for more than sixty years. The celebration highlights how small businesses strengthen communities by creating opportunities and fostering economic resilience.
