Holly Springs Parks & Recreation announced on May 6 that it has received $38,600 in grant funding to resurface eight outdoor tennis courts at the North Main Athletic Complex.

The funding will support upgrades aimed at improving safety and playing conditions for both residents and visitors. The grants, provided by the United States Tennis Association, USTA Southern, USTA North Carolina, and Western Wake Tennis Association, will cover just over half of the total project cost. The Town of Holly Springs will match these funds with its own operating budget. Grant contributions include $25,270 from USTA, $10,330 from USTA Southern, $500 from USTA-NC, and $2,500 from the Western Wake Tennis Association.

The resurfacing project is set to include pressure washing of courts, crack repair work, overlay treatment for surfaces, leveling low spots on courts and repainting lines according to current standards. These steps are intended to ensure safe and high-quality playing conditions. NMAC serves as a central location for community tennis activities such as youth and adult lessons. Through partnerships with local organizations beginner “Try Tennis” programs as well as private instruction and community leagues are offered.

The eight regulation-size courts are open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., featuring on-demand lighting for sports use. As part of the grant agreements reached with these organizations the courts will remain dedicated exclusively to tennis use for at least five years.

The Town of Holly Springs funds operations through a balanced annual budget that includes tax rates and water fees used for municipal projects like this one, according to the official website. The town operates under a council-manager structure with six elected members including a mayor who are chosen in odd-numbered years, according to the official website.According to the official website, this form of government helps manage daily operations for community services.
