The Town of Holly Springs has announced several initiatives for residents to participate in charitable giving during the holiday season. The programs, organized by various town departments and local partners, focus on food drives, toy collections, and direct support for families and children in need.
The Holly Springs Police Public Safety Cadets are leading a pre-Thanksgiving food drive to benefit the Holly Springs Food Cupboard. Community members can donate non-perishable food items through November 18 at either the Law Enforcement Center at 750 Holly Springs Rd. or Town Hall at 128 S. Main St.
Additionally, the Public Safety Cadets are hosting a toy drive called Operation Rescue Christmas in partnership with Military Missions in Action, a North Carolina-based nonprofit that supports veterans, active-duty military members, and their families. Donations of toys for children ages 0-17 can be placed in camouflage boxes at both the Law Enforcement Center and Town Hall until November 21.
Another seasonal initiative is the Angel Tree program, which runs from November 17 to December 3 at the Law Enforcement Center on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The program is a collaboration between the Holly Springs Police and the Salvation Army. “Visit the Law Enforcement Center lobby between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on weekdays. Pick a tag from the tree with a local child’s special holiday wish list. Deliver purchased, unwrapped gifts with the original angel tag securely attached,” according to the announcement.
Residents can also contribute to a Holiday Toy Drive at Town Hall through December 9 by donating unwrapped toys, which will be distributed to families in Holly Springs and nearby communities.
For those wishing to support national efforts, the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program is accepting new, unwrapped toy donations at all three Holly Springs Fire Stations until December 11. Toys for Tots is an initiative that distributes toys to disadvantaged children across the country.
The Shop with a Cop program continues through December 17 at the Law Enforcement Center. In this annual event, police officers partner with local schools to select about ten children for a special shopping experience where they can purchase holiday gifts for themselves and their families. Donations of Walmart gift cards or credit card contributions are accepted at the Law Enforcement Center.
These initiatives provide multiple opportunities for community members to assist those in need during the holidays.
