In 2024, Holly Springs saw the opening of over 600 new businesses, many of which were small enterprises. The town is currently observing National Small Business Week from May 4 to May 10, acknowledging the vital role small businesses play in the local economy and community.
“Small businesses are the backbone of Holly Springs, driving job creation, innovation, and the Town’s unique character,” stated Economic Development Director Irena Krstanovic.
The Holly Springs Economic Development Department supports small business growth through initiatives like Downtown Investment Grants. These grants help cover public infrastructure costs and tenant construction upfit expenses for eligible projects. Additionally, the recently introduced Downtown Sip & Stroll Social District aims to enhance community engagement while increasing revenue for local businesses. The department also advocates for small businesses within local government to develop policies that encourage development and sustainability.
“From proactive outreach to strategic partnerships, our team works to ensure that local entrepreneurs have the resources and support they need to thrive,” Krstanovic said.
Krstanovic emphasized that everyone can contribute by shopping and dining locally. She encouraged business owners to consider using local suppliers and urged residents to engage with these businesses online to help build their reputation. “Recommend local businesses to your friends, family, and colleagues. By making choices to support the small business community in Holly Springs, everyone can make a significant and positive impact on not just small business but our entire community,” she added.
She also highlighted the national significance of small businesses, noting they create about two out of every three new jobs in the United States and account for 43.5 percent of the gross domestic product.
Thanks were extended to Anewgo and other small businesses participating in this celebration.
