At the meeting held on Tuesday, May 20, the Holly Springs Town Council appointed new members to the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee and the Tree Advisory Committee. The Town Clerk’s Office received a total of 13 applications from residents within the town for the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee. Additionally, there were 12 applications for the Tree Advisory Committee and one application for a junior member position on this committee.

The council needed to fill several positions and selected applicants accordingly:

For the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee, three regular members were appointed for three-year terms starting July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2028. The selected individuals are Gail Valcho, Karen McGowan, and Rachel Campbell. A mid-term opening on this committee was also filled by Siobhan Casey, whose term will last until June 30, 2026.

The Tree Advisory Committee welcomed four regular members for a one-year term from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. Those appointed include Autumn Dean, Marissa Parker, Regina Smardon, and Robin Haney. Additionally, CJ Buonaccorsi was chosen as a junior member for a one-year term within the same timeframe.
