On Saturday, April 12, former Fuquay-Varina High School standouts HL Smith and Rhett James’ current college team, the UNC Pembroke Braves, won 6-5 in their NCAA Division II baseball game against the Francis Marion Patriots.

The game took place at Sammy Cox Field. This was their third matchup against the Patriots this season.

The Braves’ next game is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15 at 4 p.m. at Sammy Cox Field against Catawba Indians.
