A construction contract has been awarded to Cardinal Civil Contracting for the Alston Ridge Greenway project. The new greenway will connect Alston Ridge Park in Fuquay-Varina to Bass Lake Park in Holly Springs.

The planned trail will be just under half a mile long and is designed to improve connectivity between the two towns. The 10-foot-wide path will include both asphalt and boardwalk sections, along with safety features, signage, and upgraded drainage systems.

Construction started in 2025 and is scheduled for completion by fall 2026. Funding for the project comes in part from a Locally Administered Project Program.
