A new greenway is under construction to link Alston Ridge Park in Fuquay-Varina with Bass Lake Park in Holly Springs. The project, named the Alston Ridge Greenway, will span just under half a mile and aims to improve trail connectivity between the two towns.

The Town of Fuquay-Varina awarded the construction contract to Cardinal Civil Contracting. The planned 10-foot-wide trail will include both asphalt and boardwalk sections. Additional features such as safety enhancements, signage, and improved drainage are included in the design to provide a safer and more comfortable experience for users.

Construction started in 2025, with completion anticipated by fall 2026. Funding for the greenway comes in part from a Locally Administered Project Program.
