The legislation establishes a Student Attendance Early Intervention Pilot Program to implement and assess a data-based approach to cutting chronic absenteeism in a selected public school unit between the 2026–27 and 2027–28 fiscal years. The Department of Public Instruction would select one district serving up to 15,000 students, as well as a technology vendor providing real-time monitoring, an early warning system, layered interventions, two-way communication with families in multiple languages, dashboards, and privacy protections.
