The Town of Cary is organizing a Budget Open House on April 7, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Cary Senior Center ballroom. The event aims to give residents a chance to learn about the town’s budget process and share their priorities for the coming year.
The open house is structured as a drop-in event, allowing people to attend at any time during the four-hour window. There will be an educational presentation on the budget that repeats throughout the evening. In addition, different Town departments will have interactive booths where attendees can speak with staff, ask questions, and learn more about how tax dollars and fees support local services and programs.
Feedback collected during this event will help shape the fiscal year 2027 budget proposal. Interim Town Manager Russ Overton is set to recommend this budget to the Council later in the spring.
“Our budget is fundamentally one of the most important things we do. And we do it every year. It’s how we fund Police and Fire, keep our parks and greenways in shape, maintain roads, and plan for Cary’s future,” said Overton. “Residents deserve to have a voice in that process. When we listen to the community, we make a stronger budget, and that makes Cary stronger.”
For those unable to attend in person, live coverage will be available on Cary TV, carync.tv, and through the Town’s social media channels.
The Budget Open House is part of ongoing efforts by Cary officials to involve residents in shaping municipal spending decisions. Throughout the year, both individuals and businesses are encouraged to provide input via Cary 311 or by speaking during Public Speaks Out segments at Council meetings.
