Cary officials announced on April 8 that the community is invited to celebrate the opening of a new inclusive playground at Davis Drive Park on April 11 from 10 a.m. to noon. The event will include free entertainment, food, and family activities.

The playground is designed to support people of all abilities, reflecting Cary’s commitment to accessibility in recreation. The renovations were made possible by a donation from a local Cary family foundation.

The celebration, supported by ACCESS Cary, will take place at 1610 Davis Drive and feature treats from Buoy Bowles and NC Mini Doughnut Co., as well as opportunities for families to connect with neighbors and learn about inclusive play options in the region.

According to town officials, the new playground incorporates features that encourage inclusive play and provide various physical, sensory, and social experiences for children and families. “The Davis Drive park inclusive playground represents more than a place to play; it’s a space where everyone can feel a sense of belonging,” said John Collins, director of Cary’s Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department. “We’re proud to continue advancing inclusive recreation opportunities for our community.”

The project supports broader efforts in Cary to improve accessibility across public spaces.
