State Rep. Erin Paré has put forward a new bill in the North Carolina House designed to simplify licensure procedures for school psychologists in member states and improve practitioner mobility, according to the North Carolina State House.

It establishes a multistate commission with authority over rulemaking, enforcement, data sharing, and discipline, and appoints the State Board of Education as North Carolina’s licensure agency. In addition, it allocates $1 million in nonrecurring funds for the 2026-27 period to East Carolina University for a virtual psychology training program, with these funds available through June 30, 2029. The bill is set to become effective July 1, 2026.
